DOPPLER

carotid Doppler is an imaging test that uses ultrasound to examine the carotid arteries located in the neck. This test can show narrowing or possible blockages due to  cholesterol plaque buildup in the arteries due to atherosclerosis.  

A venous Doppler is an imaging test that uses ultrasound to examine veins - most commonly leg veins. The purpose of this test is to detect vein clots and vein valves’ leakage.  It is performed in case of leg swelling and /or pain. 

An arterial Doppler of lower extremities is perform to detect  blockages in the arteries of the legs - to confirm presence of cholesterol  and calcium plaques build up in those vessels.  It is usually performed in case of leg pains during walking.
